New arts org Lattitude 23 Arts offering $5000 to CQ artists

Latitude 23 Arts Inc is a new name for some familiar faces - the community-based arts group grew out of the former Mill Gallery in Yeppoon, a hub of the Capricorn Coast arts scene for the last 20 years.

The new group’s vision is to keep building the local arts industry, and create opportunities for the professional development of artists. Which brings us to the LimeLife 500 Microgrant.

10 grants of $500 are up for grabs through the LimeLife microgrants project, for visual artists in Central Queensland aged 18 and over.

You - or your crew, because you can apply as a group - will get $400 up front in June and $100 on completion of your project in September, plus group mentoring and a year’s membership of both Latitude 23 Arts and Arts Central Queensland.

For your pitch, they’re looking for a one-page outline that could be text, a picture board, or any other way you can explain your project. They’re not just after what it looks like, but the purpose and passion behind it - and a budget!

It doesn’t have to be an artwork per se - it might be to develop new work, but there’s also scope for the grant to cover product design, help with marketing or hooking into professional development opportunities.

Applications close May 11. To find out more or get in on it, visit the Arts Central Queensland website.
