First place: Classic Dragline,

Ana-Lucia Reyes, 13, Moranbah

“These breathtakingly huge machines are a sight to see and the larger versions are among the largest mobile land machines ever built. I tried to make it as lifelike as possible, making it walk and lower the bucket up and down.”

Isaac Regional Council CEO Gary Stevenson PSM said the response was phenomenal, showcasing the resilient and creative nature of the youth across the region.

“We had an unprecedented number of youth registering for their #isocreate kits, and what they created has blown me away,” Mr Stevenson said.

Laure-Lee Deaves, 13, Dysart

“I used the big paddlepop sticks and some of the sand paper for the vanes, with part of the candle for the body…

“I used the sand paper and paddle pop stick for the tail and straw and sand paper for the platform. I used the small paddle pop sticks for the base, straws for the frame and skewers and wire for the bracing and ladder.”

“From model aeroplanes and artwork to board games and everything in between, we can rest assured we have a great generation of inventors and creators coming up through the ranks,” Gary said.

Encouragement award:

Tough Exterior of a Teen,

Lucy Nicholous, 17, Moranbah

“My creation is an artwork that represents how a lot of teenagers feel, that we show ourselves as having this tough exterior (wire face) when in reality we are a lot more emotional and vulnerable on the inside that what we show people (background character).

“Especially in this time of stress, we are all as a community showing our tough exteriors and pretending it doesn’t bother us but a lot of us are scared and emotional.”
