Wilma La sharing the love through album recording crowdfunding campaign

Yeppoon singer-songwriter Wilma La is raising environmental awareness, and love for creativity, circus arts and yoga - as well as funds for her upcoming album - through her newly-launched crowdfunding campaign.

Wilma first came to Rockhampton in early 2016, and has fallen in love with the region. Originally from a city on the coast of Baltic Sea in Lithuania, she chose Yeppoon as her home base, where she lives with her young family.

Along the way she’s been writing songs stemming out of love for the planet, motherhood dramas, and searching for a deeper meaning in life.

Wilma describes her new crop of tunes as “a collection of soulful, groovy songs and mellow sweet ballads, fluctuating in a duality of the big loud dream and the pleasant, quiet, misunderstood and often lonely sea change.

“Jazz influenced brass, to plain piano and vocals, to acoustic Aussie beach bum vibe with a bit of tribal feel here and there.”

The songs are now ready to head to the studio - and that’s where the crowdfunding campaign comes in, to raise $16,000 to bring the album to life.

Wilma says the village feel and friendly people are what that attracted her to this part of the world, and she’s hopeful that community spirit will help her build the financial support to make this album a reality.

Wilma’s creative perks for campaign donors include circus classes and shows, art parties, yoga class packages, unique clothing, signed albums and digital downloads.

This isn’t Wilma’s first rodeo - or album - and she’s confident the project will reach its goals.

“I’m just hoping that people will have time to look at how many awesome things and experiences you can get through this campaign in return for support, and hopefully, the place I love so dearly will love me back!”
