Opportunities: Nov 2017

The November 2017 round up of opportunities for artists, writers, musicians and other performers.

The Carol Lloyd Award will be presented to an emerging female identifying singer-songwriter, who was either born in, or resides in, Queensland.  The successful applicant will be awarded $15,000, and with this, will have the opportunity to record their own full length album or record and tour their own EP.  Entries close 5pm 9 March 2018.

The Audrey Recording Initiative aims to provide three young unsigned female, trans or non-binary emerging artists with the opportunity to record a single in a safe and supportive creative space at our professional recording studio in Coburg, Victoria with world class award winning producer/ engineer Anna Laverty.  Applications are open to young women, trans and non-binary artists or bands across all genres aged between 15-21.  Applications close on 24th November 2017.

Albany Art Prize: National Acquisitive Prize For Contemporary Australian Painting.  Entries close January 8th, 2018.

The Alice Prize is an acquisitive national contemporary art prize, welcoming entries from around Australia, in any medium or theme.  Significant among regional art prizes, the Alice Prize contributes to one of the largest regional collections of Australian art, with works by leading artists from across its near 50 year history.  Entries close Jan 31.

Contemporary Art Awards 2018: Entries close 28 November 2017.

The Moth Poetry Prize (formerly the Ballymaloe International Poetry Prize). Now in its seventh year, it continues to offer one of the most lucrative awards in the world for a single unpublished poem.  Closing date December 31.

Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Competition 2018: For individual performance of original poetry of any style.  Performance and judging will be on Saturday 17 February 2018 in the Orange Civic Theatre, Orange NSW.

The Tom Collins Poetry Prize is an annual competition in memory of Australian author Joseph Furphy (1843 - 1912). Under the name Tom Collins, he wrote the Australian classic, Such is Life, as well as many poems. Competition opens October 1, 2017 and closes December 15, 2017.  Open theme.
